I decided that it would be fun to make a machine to facet rocks that I pick up on the beach. I have a few agates I've picked up previously, and I got a pound of rocks .

My original design was going to use three hospital bed motors mounted on a base with bearings and plumbing reducer with an abrasive grit drip. To big and expensive to get off the drawing board. Now I plan to use the motors on a slab saw (converted from a radial arm saw) if that doesn't get too messy.
Now my new plan is to try something like this, but using a 3D printed cradle for the drills. I found three 12v drills on eBay (for $45) that I hope will last long enough at least for a proof of concept.
